The Kingsknowes Hotel is an idyllic and beautiful Scots Baronial
Mansion with idiosyncratic and early Renaissance detailing.
It was built in 1869 for Adam Lees Cochrane, a local Textile
mill owner. The hotel has splendid gardens with play area
and ample parking, and is only a 10 minute walk from Galashiels.
The Kingsknowes is set in the heart of the romantic borderland
and overlooks Abbotsford - which is Sir Walter Scott's ancestral
home, the River Tweed (famous salmon river) and the "vibrant"
Eildon hills.
The Kingsknowes is an ideal base whether you wish to tour
the area and explore the border Abbeys and famous houses,
or just relax in our ambient atmosphere.
Its also great for trying out some of the local leisure activities
such as golf, salmon and trout fishing, deer-stalking, horse
riding, cycling and walking.
We are situated only 33 miles south of Edinburgh on the A7.
The Kingsknowes is well known locally for their tasty and
fresh food offering Table D'hote, A La Carte and Bar Meal
Menus.
The Abbotsford and Eildon Restaurants are beautifully placed
with scenic views of the Borders countryside.
A warm welcome awaits you from your hosts Murray and Sylvia
Scott at The Kingsknowes Hotel, Galashiels.
