Before The Gathering Week, the Braw Lad and Lass have other borders appearances, involving the Selkirk and Lauder Principals. A Scottish Country Dance in the volunter hall leads into the weekend prior to Braw Lads' Week, when there are childrens' discos and sports.

Braw Lads' Week sees the official ride to Lindean, the Douglas Brown Cup for swimming, fancy dress night, an overseas reception, school visits and the Investiture Concert. The culmination of festivities is The Braw Lads' Gathering, where the Braw Lad leads the mounted cavalcade with the Burgh Flag. The Gathering ends with a service at Gala Isle on the Sunday.
None of this would be possible without The Braw Lads' Executive.
